Temporal overlap is a feature of editing in early film style that involves repeating a story action by reversing plot time to show the story action again from another perspective. For example, in Life of an American Fireman, the rescue is shown from two perspectives, from both inside and outside the house. Also, in Rescue by Rover, Rover finds the gypsys apartment and is shown going inside. Then plot time is reversed we see the gypsy inside with the baby from a new perspective, and time passes before Rover comes in indicating the story action is being repeated.
