What is the switching loop error?

The switching loop error comes about when a computer network has more than one layer 2 path which is between two endpoint devices like when there are a number of connections between 2 network switches or connections between two ports on the same switch that is connected together.

The situation can create broadcast storms and also, the destination will be unreachable until the event that the switching loop disappears. That is because one has to pass by the previous one when joining them. It sounds more complicated than it is and as long as you do what you need to do in order to correct it, no damage will be done and all will be working again.
