There is indeed a gender gap in Sri Lanka. Specifically, gender inequalities affect every aspect of women's lives there. Even the abortions allowed are to abort female babies. Education is very limited to females, especially higher education. Job opportunities are certainly limited for females and they make a lot less.
Political participation is also lacking among females. Access to healthcare is another area that females are slighted in. Sri Lanka keeps coming up with high rankings for equality for the specific area they are in geographically. But...one has to wonder what it is being compared to.
