Compared to other GCC countries, Bahrain's are typically laid back and tolerant toward ex-patriots and non-Muslims. People who live there are open and friendly. Grocery stores sell pork products, but in a separate section so that Muslims do not mistakenly buy them.
As long as you do not try to push another religion onto people or convert them, things will go rather smoothly. As with any foreign country, you will need to understand the culture and respect local laws and customs. Bahrain also has a very hip and modern nightlife.

There are a lot of people who would like to visit Bahrain but they are not sure if it would be safe for them to visit. This may be a daunting place for people to visit but they are actually less strict when it comes to traditions as compared to other similar countries. They usually put up decorations during Christmas and they also have different places of worship that are not limited to Muslims alone.
They also have grocery stores that may have food that Muslims consider to be haram such as pork but they make sure that the area is separated from the usual so that Muslims will not unknowingly purchase them. One thing that you can do is to make sure that you will not do anything to disrespect the religion and you will get respect in return for your religion too.
