Bahrain is one of the few countries of the world where alcohol drinking is highly prohibited. It is something very common in all Muslim countries and it's about their attitude to drinking of alcohol. There are some countries like United Arab Emirates where you cannot be served any alcoholic drink in their airport. This is about to happen in Bahrain also, the country's parliament recently moved to stop drinking and serving of alcoholic drinks in the airport.
This culture has a link with their religious practice. Drinking of alcoholic drinks in public is illegal and you can be prosecuted for it. That is why you can't just get alcohol anyhow in the country. This does not mean people don't drink alcohol in Bahrain, the law is only for the Muslims in the country but foreigners are being licenzed before they can have full right to drinking of alcohol. You can also get alcoholic beverages in the hotels.
