What is the crime rate of Bulgaria?

The crime rate in Bulgaria is considered to be very high. There are so many criminal activities like theft, murder, kidnapping, homicide, human trafficking and some other related crimes. In 2016, the total number of people murdered is 166. This criminal activities is particularly common among the youth, so many of them are perpetrating those crimes because they don't have a means of livelihood. Contract killings by organized crime is something very common in Bulgaria, but this has reduced due to the tireless efforts of the security operatives. Another level of crime is corruption. Corruption in Bulgaria is so high.

This is a common practice in Bulgaria for doctors, security agents, lawyers to be receiving bribes from their clients and the worst of it is when you hear about how students would be buying grades from their professors. The corruption rate among those in government is also high. Bulgaria was ranked 86 out of 188 countries by corruption perceptions index as one of the most corrupt nations.
