Every country that is practicing democracy has two legislative chambers, we have the upper chamber usually called the Senate and the lower chamber known as House of representatives. The two houses formed the legislative arm of the federal government and they are saddled with the responsibility of making laws and also representing their people. But there some differences between the two. In terms of size, the House of Representatives has more members than the Senate.
This is because, the house of representatives’ members is very close to the people than the Senate. For example, in the United States, there are 100 members in the Senate while there are 435 and resulting to a total 535 members of Congress. Also in United States, the house of representative members spends just two years while the Senate members use 6 years for a single term. Issues that are relating to the urgent needs of the people are discussed by the house of representatives because of their closeness to their people.
