France is known for its fabulous wineries. But, how many does it have? There are somewhere in the neighborhood of approximately 27,000 wineries in France. That's not to mention that around 110,000 vinegrowers have one or more vineyard. Some of them, however, bring their grapes to another location so they aren't processing their own wine such as to a local co-op or marketplace.
It is estimated that only 1/5 of all vinegrowers produce their own wine. Just 10 years ago, there were more vinegrowers. There were around 200,000 or more but now, there are less. Still, France has tons and they make the best wine ever!
