California is the most populous state, meaning it has the most people in it. Next up is Texas andthen Florida. Vermont is the least populated as well as Alaska. California is so populated it has 12% of all the people in the whole United States contained in it.

Only 6 states have under a million people residing in them which is Alaska, Delaware, South Dakota, Vermont, Wyoming, and North Dakota. When you combine California with New York and Texas, you get 27 percent of the United States. Many large companies hail from California like ATT, Facebook, and Apple. That is one reason it's so populated.
