Claustrophobia is an anxiety disorder which usually results in an irrational and intense fear of an enclosed space or a small room. That is why you would see a person very nervous while in his room with the door closed. Claustrophobia can be classified as a genetic disorder because the condition itself can be classified under anxiety disorder and anxiety disorder has been researched to have genetic contributor, this experiment was conducted using mice and they found out that there are signs of fear in their babies.
Children can inherit fear as a trait from their parents. If those parents are claustrophobic, there is every tendency that their children might show the symptoms. However, the mutation of a single gene that encodes a stress-regulated neuronal protein, can cause claustrophobia.
