There is no big difference between HTTP and HTTPS, in that both are actually providing the same function but one is more secured than the other. HTTP means Hypertext Transfer Protocol. Hypertext Transfer Protocol is what enables the connection between web browser and the server through the exchange of data.

That's why when you click on a link on your web browser, it triggers a connection with the server and present a result on your screen. HTTP is not secured and it's content can be intercepted and altered. I can say the deficiency with HTTP is what brought about HTPPS. HTTPS means Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure.

It does the same work as HTTP but provide a more secured protocol for the data exchange between the web browser and the server. We can store our personal details like username, password and others on internet because HTTPS will provide an encrypted connection which can not be intercepted and altered.

The difference between these two acronyms relates, in simple terms, to security. To take each letter of the acronyms in turn: the HT stands for hypertext. You are sending information in a written, or text form and it is encrypted. The next T stands for Transfer, meaning you have written something and you intend to send it across the internet to someone or some place else.

The the P stands for Protocol, that is, the process the technicians have agreed will be the set method for dealing with the hypertext transfer. The last S in the second acronym stands for Secure. Later URLs mostly have this HTTPS as recognition for the need to be aware of security risks in transfer of information.

Have you ever checked out different websites and realized that some websites start with HTTPand other websites start with https? There are some people who may find this confusing but there are some differences. HTTP means Hypertext Transfer Protocol which means that there is information that is being sent from people to the website that they are visiting.

The data that will be received from the user will come to the website in the form of text. This means that it will be easy for people to intercept important data. HTTPS is actually a more secure form of sending data because it makes use of secure sockets layer that will make sure that data is encrypted.

The difference between HTTP and HTTPS lies in the 'S' in the second acronym. HTTP is the acronym for Hypertext Transfer Protocol. HTTP simply means, a protocol through which information is sent from people web browser to the site they are visiting.

The data being sent from the user's browser to the site being visited is displayed in text form. That is why it is not advisable to put in sensitive information because the connection can be intercepted by someone else and then view what it contains. HTTPS also has the same meaning as HTTPS but the 'S' is where the difference lies.

HTTPS means Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure. While both HTTP and HTTPS are being used to send information from the user's browser to the site they are visiting, HTTPS uses a secure sockets layer (ssl) and transport layer security (tls), which provide a more secured activities on the data being sent
