Agree to the above members, I myself believe that WhatsApp is just a combination of words like What's Up?
It symbolizes the aim of this application. It connects people, and they have the opportunity to get engaged with each other. So this app really had a meaningful name.

I always thought that the name WhatsApp is from the words "What's up?", so also it is an app.
So, the developers decided to form a new word made by these 2 letters.
