Phobia is an irrational or obsessive fear of something. There have been medical reports about the possibility that phobia, particularly acrophobia which is fear of heights might be genetic. Fear which also means phobia is hereditary which means fear can be passed from parents to their children, that is, the tendency towards having fear or anxiety is hereditary.
A child who has never had any frightening experience about high places may show it, all because he might have received it from his parents. A research conducted to study fear in animal using mice revealed that fear can be transmitted into succeeding generation. In the same vein acrophobia which is also fear of heights can be transmitted from parents to children. Also since acrophobia is a form of anxiety disorder and anxiety and fear is something which can be transferred from parents to their offsprings, it means acrophobia is a genetic disorder.
