Phobia is simply an irrational and intense fear of anything. One thing that is common to every human being is that we must have phobia for at least one thing. While many of these phobias decrease as we get older, some become worst as we are growing old. Acrophobia is an intensive and irrational fear of heights. Many people cannot stand or won't dare to look down when they are on elevator or they find themselves in a place very high, many might even develop this intense fear at the thought of being in a very high place.

The activities of our organ of balance decreases as we get older and this might make us to feel physically vulnerable to some things. That is why you would see a very old person unable to walk right or stand on his own, and you should expect the acrophobic condition in such person to be worst.
