If you don't know, your social security number can be stolen, this is very bad looking at the rigor of many processes to recover it. Social security number is a 9-digit number given to every US citizen and other lawful immigrants for proper identification and can be used to track individuals social security benefits. This number is issued by social security administration.
Stealing of someone's social security number is a serious offence anybody can commit, because that is nothing but identity theft and it is another form of fraud. It was announced by the United States Federal Trade Commission that a total number of more eight million Americans were victim of identity theft in 2016. Authorities have issued warning to those in the act to desist from it or they face the law.
