Terrorism is definitely to blame for Islamophobia. If not for terrorism, people would not care if others believed differently and wore different types of clothing. The fact that Islamic terrorism abounds makes it natural for people to be suspicious. They are fearing for their lives and the lives of their loved ones.
They are fearing for the well-being of their country. If Islamic people were known for being peaceful, there would be no widespead fear. No one would care that they were different. Gay and lesbian people are different. They do get a certain amount of judgement passed on them but people don't really live in fear of them because they are known as being peaceful yet different. The same would be true of Islamic people if not for terrorism and what threats it poses upon the general public.
