Islamophobia originates from the 70's actually. The term Islamophobia got its start in the early part of the 20th century. The tension with Islamic nations was mounting at that time. It continued to increase in the 1980s and 1990s too. Then it escalated with the Runnymede Trust's Commission report which was about British Muslims and Islamophobia.
But, just as the subject was coming up and solutions could have been possibly reached, 9-11 happened and the situtation grew much more serious. Now Islamophobia abounds in Europe and in the United States and other places as well and rightly so because there is so much terrorism and you never can tell who is who. It is a sad situation.
