How did Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston end their marriage?

Given the fact that Brad Pitt left Jennifer Aniston for another woman, the split went pretty amicably. It was more on Aniston's part. She has a lot of character and a lot of pride so she didn't make a big stink although she was, no doubt, hurt and embarrassed. The two divorced which left Pitt free to pursue Angelina, which...he certainly did. The two had three children together and adopte three as well.

They were like peanut butter and jelly, two peas in a pod, until they weren't. Their split was the one that grabbed headlines with child abuse allogations against Pitt and a long, drawn out court process. Aniston and Pitt remain friends, if not more, while Jolie and Pitt are arch enemies. Now that Pitt knows how nasty a divorce can be, it has to be wondered if he has a deeper appreciation for Jennifer Aniston who just let it be.
