What does letter VIBGYOR stand for?

The letter VIBGYOR stands for the seven colors of the rainbow, they are: Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange and Red. These seven colors can naturally be seen in the sky when the sun is shining at a time rain wants to drop. Another thing is that Sunlight is known as visible or white light and is actually a mixture of all visible colors.

So as the sunlight passes through the water droplets, the white color of the sun begins to split into the different colors that made it up. So after this happened, we have what is called rainbow. The reason as to why the color white is not included in the seven colors is because the seven colors are gotten from white due to the action of the water droplets on the sunlight . Rainbow can only be seen when we have the sun at our back and the rain in front.

There are some people who may refer to the colors of the rainbow as ROYGBIV this stands for the usual format of rainbows when they are seen namely, red, as the shortest wavelength followed by orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, and indigo. Some people are more familiar with the colors of the rainbow as VIBGYOR meaning violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange, and red.
