Star Trek isn't as popular as Star Wars and never really will be. There are several reasons behind that. There was so much hype behind Star Wars when it came out, the psychological factor is huge. People were programmed to think that Star Wars was the ultimate science fiction movie and they fell for it. Another reason is that it is more difficult for viewers to get into Star Trek than it is to get into the Star Wars story. Star Trek is more complicated and has more characters and situations to take into consideration.

But, the very things that make Star Trek and unlikely favorite for some viewers make it the ultimate science ficition piece for others. Some love the complication behind it because it brings about emotions and provokes thought. Which is better? That is a matter of personal opinion. There is no right answer. Star Wars fans are die hards but then again, so are Star Trek fans. They each have their own clubs and lines of products. They are both stellar and that is for sure.
