The Bikini Atoll is an area on the Marshall Islands. This is where many nuclear bombs were dropped in order to be tested. The bombs were also tested in deserts in the United States mostly in New Mexico. However, the bombs were being made in a secret city in Tennessee called Oak Ridge. Here, the engineers put together large amounts of uranium to make the bombs.

These warheads however had to be transported many miles away. With these dangerous explosive bombs or warheads, they had to be moved and carefully. To transport the bombs from Oak Ridge to New Mexico or even further to the Bikini Atoll on the Marshall Islands, special airplanes were used to transport them. They had to be extra careful.
