How many seasons of American Idol are there?

American Idol is a reality competition show that has been on television since 2002. It has had 15 seasons up to 2017. From 2018 until now, there have been two more seasons in production or currently being aired. Therefore, there are a total of 17 seasons up until now. The judges for the last season include Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie. A lot has changed since the first season including the judges.

During the first several seasons, the judges include Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson. They popularized the show. There have been a large amount of other judges during the other seasons in between including Ellen DeGeneres, Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey, Steven Tyler, Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr.
