Education in Austria is not expensive. Everyone must go to school for nine years in Austria. They have public schools which are free and they also have private schools which are not free. Ninety-nine percent of the people in Austria are literate. That means they can read and write. After school, people may either go to work or go to an institute of higher education.
Ever since the 1960s, the universities have changed to serving anyone who is qualified. Unlike the United States, the public universities in Austria are free. The students can be admitted to and take classes and then get their degree without any debt. They can graduate with their degree without having to pay for it. Therefore, education is cheap in Austria.
