Is paracetamol an analgesic?

Paracetamol is another name for acetaminophen. Therefore, the paracetamol is actually an analgesic drug. This is because the acetaminophen is known for being a pain killer known as analgesics. Mostly the paracetamol is used to stop the pain in the head or stop a fever. You often see this drug in cold medications.

However, it is used for more severe pain like those feel by cancer patients. It usually takes about 8 minutes to take effect if taken intravenously. However, like most of the time if it is taken by mouth it takes over half an hour to take effect. It usually lasts about one to four hours before you will start feeling the pain again. Tylenol makes this type of analgesic drug.
