The plate tectonic theory is related to the idea that describes how the seven continents once formed one big continent and then they broke apart. According to the theory, this breakage took place billions of years ago. The tectonic plates are the parts below the surface of the Earth’s crust. If the tectonic plates shift, people would be scared. This is because they can cause or trigger natural disasters. One of those natural disasters is earthquakes.

When the plates shift along fault lines, they move and cause the earth to move. This can be dangerous because earthquakes can bring buildings down without any warning. People would get hurt. However, there are precautions that scientists take and look for when an earthquake is about to happen.
