Argentina surely had its ups and downs like all other nations. It was first explored in 1516 by the explorer Juan Diaz de Solis. With a Spanish colonial rule, Argentina began to develop slowly as a vast colony. What is now the city of Buenos Aires was settled in 1580 with such a long and rich history. When the British attempted to invade the land, they were promptly expelled in 1806.
The Spanish held their ground. Later, after Spain was conquered by Napoleon in 1808, the Argentine people set up their own government in 1810. Finally, on July 9th 1816, they formally declared independence as a nation. Things went smoothly for this nation, but after World War II, things went sour with the leadership of Juan D. Peron. They went through decades of turmoil and conflict within the nation.
