The Amazon is known for its large size and the huge amount of water that drains through it. There is no other river of such magnitude and stature. The area of its basin is like none other. As far as water flow, the Amazon has the greatest than that of any river that is known. The amount of water that flows through this river is greater than the total amount of water that goes through several famous rivers such as the Mississippi, Nile, and the Yangtze rivers all combined together.
The main river is approximately one to six miles in width. The span of the river is wider than any other river on the planet. This is certainly one of the greatest qualities that make this the greatest river anywhere. All other rivers have a much smaller span and cannot accommodate as much water as the Amazon river.
