Primarily, it was believed that child labor is nonexistent in China. The reasons may be compulsory education, labor laws, and child protection laws that fend for the young in the nation. In addition to this, most of the parents in China have a high value for education and would prefer to give their children the best education they can afford. Along with this, the one child policy puts the parents in a situation that they are quite focused on that one child and the welfare of that child.
Certainly there are exceptions like in other nations. China is a vast country with so much land that it would be impossible to keep up and keep a tab on all the people. It is difficult to determine what happens in areas that are out of the reach of much of the media and public. There may also be problems with migrant workers who are only focused on their immediate survival. In similar situations, child labor may be an issue in China.
