What are some books that everyone should read in their lifetime? These would be books that are central to the human story or that have changed the world. Some books that everyone should read include the following: To Kill a Mocking Bird, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Pride and Prejudice, 1984, Animal Farm, Brave New World, Lord of the Rings, The Star Maker, Last and First Men, Chronicles of Narnia, The Time Machine and Lord of the Flies among others.

These all encourage thought and many of these books have shaped how we see the world. The Star Maker, for example, portrays a cosmic philosophy which is still at the heart of science today as we embark on space exploration and increasing our knowledge of the universe.

Brave New World presents a chilling scenario of a future where humans become commodities that are mass-produced like any other product. Lord of the Rings is an archetypical work of imaginative fiction which could be considered a modern mythology.
