You can hear magnetic hard drive problems and fan problems.

You can usually determine that theres a problem with your traditional magnetic hard drive or cooling fans just by listening to your computer. Bad hard drives will click and broken fans will either groan or go silent. You can also hear (or not) sound card problems and, interestingly, some network card problems.
