Initially, AlienWare was its own company. The company was founded in 1996, although the AlienWare name didn’t come around until 1997. AlienWare quickly established a reputation as one of the premier producers of gaming computers, particularly laptops. This reputation garnered the attention of Dell, the computer mega-giant, in the early 2000s.
Even though Dell first expressed interest in owning AlienWare in 2002, it wasn’t until 2006 that AlienWare officially becomes a part of Dell. Leveraging the reputation of the company, Dell continued to maintain the brand, eventually incorporating them into their gaming division as its premium brand. By 2009, Dell announced the first co-branded hardware, which was the M17x.
The laptops remain among the highest priced and quality laptops for gaming, including the Alienware Area 51m. These computers generally start at around $2,000, but each device packs a ton of hardware for top-notch gaming performance. Each computer can also be fully customized, to the customer’s ideal specifications.
