This is a hard one to answer because there are people who make their living through the slaughter and sale of beef. If it is done humanely, then there are no issues. It is when the cow is abused during the process that problems come into play. India lifted the ban on the slaughter of cows back in 2015, citing that they could not hurt someone’s livelihood.
When a cow is slaughtered for food, then there is no issue as the majority of the animal will be used completely. IT is when it is slaughtered and left to rot, that there becomes an outcry. Beef, even in India, is a staple for many, and it is a lower-costan alternative for food sourcing.
