For someone who holds a doctorate in philosophy there are several different career paths that can be taken. Most often, you will find them teaching in a university somewhere. Some however choose to spend their time in research and writing. But many others work in public administration, hold writing positions with newspapers or blogs, or work in law offices.
While degrees can open many doors, one should decide which career path they want to pursue before attending school to gain a doctorate. Philosophy can be a tough field to work in, but that does not deter many from pursuing it as their choice of study.
