The Blackberry Messenger was released on October 21, 2013. It has one of the highest rates of downloads within the first 24 hours, logging an impressive five million hits within the first 10 hours of it being released. It was noted as one of the best messenger apps at the time, and continued to be in use until it was shut down.

For those that used it, many still wish that it was available, as it was easy to use and simple for those who were not completely tech-savvy.
