There are no real reasons that a person would find themselves vulnerable to coming down with Schizophrenia except for things going on within their body and environemtn that are beyond their control. A person may be apt to get it if their parents have it or if it is passed down to the through their DNA.
That cannot be helped. A person might be unbalanaced chemically and then a traumatic event pushes their mind and body over the edge and they come down with Schizophrenia. That cannot be helped either. People do not just drive themselfves crazy and end up having Schizophrenia as some people think. I tis something that takes place in ones body and brain that is beyond their control. The only thing that is controlable is getting help and if the person who is suffering from it is in a bad place mentally, that is even very difficult to do.
That is why a support system is imperative to help one who has Schizophrenia. Part of the disease is being in unreality so you can see how a problem is posed. But with professional help, a normal-like life can be achieved.
The exact type of people that can get schizophrenia is unknown. This is because the main cause of schizophrenia is unknown. Scientists suggest a combination of psychological, genetic, physical and environmental factors can make a person more likely to develop schizophrenia.
However, people who have been through stressful or emotional life events such as divorce, bereavement, losing a job, the end of a relation, physical, emotional or sexual abuse can trigger a psychotic episode are more prone to develop schizophrenia. Schizophrenia also tends to run in family. Drug abuse is also known to increase the risk of developing schizophrenia or similar mental illness.
