The soup got its name from the French word soup whichmeans broth, basically. That word comes from the Vulgar Latin word of suppa which was the bread that was soaked in broth. There is also a German word which is sop that also means a piece of bread soaked in broth. So, many of the words the word soup comes from were from different languages but were similar in sound. It turns out that almost every language and every culture had a word for it.
Soup is a universal food which is interesting. Countries have all put their own cultural spin on soups and have eaten soup for many years. Soup is wonderful in taste and is healthy too. It comes in many varieties. Soup...does a body good it is said.
