Most likely the cleanest pet would have to be one that stays confined in its home and the home does not need cleaning. It is hard to imagine that there is such a pet. However, there is and it is the goldfish. They do not smell and you rarely need to clean out the fishtank. Even though fish do release waste, it doesn’t smell and it requires very little care.
Their food does not have to sit out either. It is usually in a small can with a lid on it. Then it can be placed in a drawer. Those people who have fish rarely have to do much and it keeps their house clean. When a stranger comes to visit, they may be able to smell whether a dog or cat has been in their house.
