Most of the time, our inability to fall asleep and have a proper sleep is caused by the various medications we use. While most of those medications are actually good for their various functions, their reactions in the body can result in a lot of problems like insomnia. Although there are so many causes of insomnia, it might as a result of depression, and other types of illness. However, insomnia can also be caused by some medications. Most times, we are faced with the issue of insomnia when we use certain types of drugs.
For example, Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), which is used in the treatment of depression and anxiety can cause insomnia when it reacts with the body system. Also, drugs that contain nicotine can also lead to the inability to have proper sleep during the night. Medications that contain alcohol are mostly used to treat cold, cough, but at the same time, they can lead to insomnia. Diuretics can also cause insomnia.
