Insomnia simply means a sleep disorder that is characterized by difficulty to fall asleep or stay asleep in the night. Insomnia occurs only in the night, and that is why it is quite different from sleeplessness. Insomnia will keep you awake even when you really want to sleep, at times after struggling to sleep; you end up seeing yourself waking up a few minutes later. The inability to sleep in the night can be so annoying that you tend to do all sorts of things so that you can sleep.
The effects of insomnia on our body, especially when it has become chronic should not be taken with levity hand because it can result in many other problems. Insomnia can affect your daily performance at work; you just find yourself losing your concentration. Sleepiness during daytime is one of the symptoms of insomnia, coupled with the fact that you will start feeling anxious and eventually depression sets in.
