Previous to this era, most dental practices were privately owned practices, but that has changed as corporate interests have moved into the market. As this practice becomes standard, it appears that more and more dentists will be working for others as a part of a business (franchise) or corporation. Technology, as always, is driving trend in this industry as well, and within dentistry, it is expected that many procedures will be less invasive as in the past. Technology will also be improved for imaging as it relates to radiation-based and non-radiation based imaging.
There is also the expectation that technology will borrow from other fields like ophthalmology in terms the technology related to CT scans. There will also be a reliance on digital scanners to check for caries. Then, like with everything else in society, there is the push for the use of artificial intelligence so that computers can read data for dentists and make conclusions.
