As of 2019, yes there is one other person that is much wealthier than Bill Gates, and that is Jeff Bezos. Bezos’s net worth is somewhere between $131 and $136 billion, and Amazon comprises 16% much of this wealth. Starting from his garage, Bezos has built this company into an empire that has branched out to include variations on the Amazon brand (Amazon Prime & Amazon Studios), and recently, he has invested in one major media.

He purchased The Washington Post in 2013, and actually turned the paper around by establishing an online presence. By using the internet as a platform to reach greater audiences, he has been able to revive the paper. Gates had been the richest person for almost 20 years until 2017 when Bezos surpassed him. While there are several people who are in the billionaire’s club, at least five Gates is number two in front of Warren Buffet, Melinda Gates, and Mark Zuckerberg.
