It’s hard to say actually. Everyone displays love 💖differently and in the era of social media, love between couples💑 has changed significantly. Some couples are fiercely private and some are openly public about their relationships. The definition of love remains the same but the way it is expressed has changed. The world has come a long way in their expression of love.
The Greeks would throw apples at the person they liked to confess their love someone. Nowadays, that’s highly unlikely. As for Valentine’s Day, I am on the side of the people who think that it has lost its charm. Back before the social media burst, couples rarely talked and some couples met only at their schools, unis or workplaces. Valentine’s day was the official opportunity to confess, converse, get closer and genuinely have a good time. Social media has enabled us to neglect those distances and circumstances, making things easier.
That has changed the way we communicate with our significant others. Since we have heart-to-heart talks on a regular basis, a special day for it is hardly necessary. The major reason Valentine’s is losing its significance is because social media makes people compare their relationships with others which is not really good for the collective confidences. People don’t put in an effort to make this day special anymore. Valentine’s is just another day to meet up, have a fancy dinner and take selfies. High expectations for the ‘V-day’ by both men and women also reduce the fun a couple can have. The couples who do like to celebrate want grand gestures of love dedicated to them on this day. That is why I believe its lost its charm.😑
