The very first Valentine’s Day ever was celebrated in the year 496. Valentine’s Day is an ancient tradition that goes back a long way in time. It was thought to have first originated from a Roman festival. The Roman festival was called Lupercalia and took place in the middle of February.
It’s believed that part of the celebration took place by boys drawing the names of girls from a box. The girl’s names that they got would end up being their girlfriend for the festival, or sometimes they would get married.Much later, the church decided to turn this festival into a Christian celebration and did make it an observance to remember Saint Valentine too.
