Which countries celebrate valentine's day?

Valentine’s Day is called by other names. Some of these names include Saint Valentine’s Day or Feast of St. Valentine. It is a non-public holiday that is celebrated annually and on the date of February 14th. The holiday did originate as being a Western Christian feast day to honor a saint or saints called Valentinus. It is a celebration that marks romance and romantic love. Valentine’s Day is a holiday that is celebrated in many places.

In the United States, there are about 190 million Valentine’s cards, which are sent out every year here. This doesn’t include the hundreds of millions of Valentine’s cards that school children do exchange among each other. In India, the celebration associated with Valentine’s Day didn’t catch on until about 1992, and that was spread through the programs that were part of commercial TV channels such as MTV. Dedicated radio programs and love letter competitions also contributed significantly.

Economic liberalization of the Valentine card industry also had a huge impact. In Ireland, many of those who seek true love, do make a Christian pilgrimage to the Shrine of St. Valentine in Dublin. The shrine is said to house relics belonging to St. Valentine of Rome. People pray at the memorial in hopes of finding love.
