The average African elephant can live from 60 to 70 years old but a lot of them may die earlier than that because of the poachers who are trying to get the tusks of the elephants. It seems that those who are also in captivity are known to last shorter as compared to those who are in the wild.
For example, Africanelephants in captivity can only live up to 20 years probably because of the way that they are being treated plus their sadness about not being in the wild. Those who are in the wild but are still protected can live up to 56 which means that they can live longer and happier lives when they are left alone by people.
The African elephant is from the genus Loxodonta, and the two species are no other than the bush elephant and the forest elephant. The bush elephant is the largest of all animals on earth and is the most fertile between the ages of 25 and 45.
How long an African Elephant does live is dependent on certain factors. They can live to be anywhere between 60 and 70 years.
