Hockey fields are always kept wet and the way is clear. The area is made of grass and hard ground. The wet turf has significant advantages over dry turf. The first advantage is that it allows the ball to slide across the field and aids passing and shooting.
The ball used in field hockey is heavier and hence the water gives it a slightly better chance of rolling around without flying off. The second advantage is that it prevents severe injuries to the players who fall. It also improves gameplay and allows for the players to use it to their advantage and creating engaging technical moves and passes.
