Why is it against the law for a man living in North Carolina to be buried in South Carolina?

This may be considered a trick question but the man who is living in North Carolina cannot be buried in South Carolina simply because he is not dead yet. It is always against the law to bury those who are still alive. There are some cases wherein those who are buried actually turn out to still be alive.

This explains why there are some graves that come with bells on them. This will help the person buried to allow the bells to ring. This will alert people to unbury the person if ever. There are some people all over the world that consider being buried alive as their greatest fear.
