Any sport that places players in direct contact with others has the potential for injury, and this is the case with hockey as well. There is always the chance that serious injury will result from playing this contact sport as well. Some of the more common injuries that can occur when playing hockey include: Head injuries like concussions and other head-related injuries happen when players come in contact with other players, come in contact with boards, slip and fall, or accidentally get hit by the puck.

Other contact injuries that result when playing contact hockey, which allows players to use their bodies for defensive and offensive shields to check other players, and which result in bruises and broken bones. Then, back pain injuries can result from just the posture required to play the sport. The skating posture which allows them to balance on the ice is also detrimental to their back. Staying close to the ice is great for playing the game, but not so great for the alignment of your back which takes a lot pressure when combined with the rapid twisting of the slap shot and being checked by other players. To answer the question, yes, playing hockey can be dangerous simply because of the risk of injury to the head and other body parts.

Hockey is an extremely dangerous sport. The allowance of contact, paired with fast moving puck and slippery ice can cause great disaster. Hockey players can achieve a speed of over 30 miles per hour which can result in any kind of dangerous collision It can also result in bruises after being sandwiched with another player and the boards.
