This is one of the fields of theoretical physics that mostly focus on gravity. Its main goal is to provide a description of gravity that is updated, more precise, and according to the studies that are related to quantum mechanics. There are just some things that are still hard to explain especially when they happen in space. This field is supposed to come up with the answers why the different particles in the universe are formed.
At the same time, it would need to describe why the force works the way that it does. it will also explain how the force affects even the smallest items that can be found in the universe. A lot of people consider this very complex.

This is a theory still being developed in physics that attempts to take account of both quantum mechanics and general relativity. If a successful description of quantum gravity could be achieved, then this might amount to a 'theory of everything' - no small matter!
Quantum gravity is an overall term for such combinational theories, ie attempts to unify gravity with the other fundamental forces of physics. It usually amounts to proposing the existence of a theoretical entity, a graviton, which is a virtual particle that mediates the gravitational force.
