The high speed bullet trains of Japan was inaugurated in 1964. This Shinkansen train was named bullet train because of its shape, and could reach a speed of 210 kmh at that time. This development in 1964 gave Japan a special status as the first of its kind. They also became known for their ingenuity and development. Developing such a system was not only a challenge, it was a huge risk for the nation as a whole.
It was in 1977 that sections of the Florence-Rome train line became the first in Europe to tout the bullet train with top speeds of 250 kmph. That full route was only completed in 1992. The French made their attempt in September of 1981 with top speeds of 260 kmph, connecting Paris and Lyons.
It was in the year 1964 when the first bullet train was created in Japan. The construction of this started five years prior to when it was first opened to the public. This train started its operation at around 6 AM in the morning.
There are still other bullet trains that were created in other parts of the world after that but the first bullet train will always be remembered because it has inspired and sparked change. The first bullet train operated until the year 1999. It was then changed to a more advanced model after that. The first bullet train truly served millions of passengers the whole time that it was in operation.

Bullet trains are also known as shinkansen. It was first created in 1964. It did not start off very smoothly when it was being constructed based on a scandal and a main person quitting. The reason had to do with the company building the project going over budget. However, it was finally erected and in service in October 1964.
The main reason for these bullet trains was that they wanted to be able to reach smaller rural areas outside of Tokyo in order to help the economies of these areas. Since these bullet trains could travel fast, they could get to these smaller areas in much less time. The name of the first bullet train produced was called Yume No Chotokkyu.
